The AccuWeather.com Winter Forecast released today does not contain good news for homeowners in the East. Chief Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi says, "The winter as a whole in the population-dense eastern third of the nation will be a one-two punch of higher heating prices and lower temperatures."
According to Bastardi, the overall colder and snowier winter will be off to a cold start in December with perhaps the roughest winter month for much of the nation. It may finish with another cold spell in late January and February.

The trillion-dollar question everyone keeps asking about the economy is: When will the housing market come back?
The answer should be apparent: It won't.

Children who take Merck’s combination vaccine ProQuad suffer from convulsions twice as frequently as children who are given two separate vaccines, a federally funded study has found.
In response, the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has reversed its prior position of recommending ProQuad, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox, over two separate vaccines for chicken pox and MMR.

Riots have broken out in the mixed city of Acre, reportedly triggered when an Israeli Arab man drove his car during the Yom Kippur religious holiday.
Dozens of cars and shops were damaged as hundreds of people took to the streets, Haaretz newspaper reported.

Once again, Washington has proven that anything it touches is doomed to failure. Unable to win wars, repair levees, fix voting machines or rebuild its Twin Towers, the colossal $700 billion bailout package passed last week by Congress proved to be an instant bust.
As we predicted in our 26 September 2008 Trend Alert Put the Bailout on the Ballot -- "The bailout plan will only bail out CEOs and preferred stakeholders of failing financial firms while sinking the American people deeper in debt."

There has been significant interest generated about the claim that a large UFO will intentionally make itself seen on Tuesday, Oct. 14. A woman living in Australia, Blossom Goodchild, says this information was conveyed to her through ESP. She says that representatives of the "Federation of Light" contacted her via mental telepathy to communicate about the Oct. 14 event. To some people, Goodchild's claims may seem highly questionable or even ridiculous. Others may find themselves believing or hoping that such a development occurs.

The Maryland State Police classified 53 nonviolent activists as terrorists and entered their names and personal information into state and federal databases that track terrorism suspects, the state police chief acknowledged yesterday.
Police Superintendent Terrence B. Sheridan revealed at a legislative hearing that the surveillance operation, which targeted opponents of the death penalty and the Iraq war, was far more extensive than was known when its existence was disclosed in July.

Investigators from both the department's Office of Inspector General and Office of Professional Responsibility found that political pressure did indeed drive the dismissal action against at least three of the nine federal prosecutors abruptly fired. At the time, then-Attorney General Alberto Gonzales insisted the individuals were all dismissed for inadequate performance, or failure to implement the President's law enforcement agenda.

How many more lies must we listen to? How many more political scandals must we endure? How many more of our young people have to be grievously wounded or die in unnecessary and illegal wars, and how many more trillions of dollars in economic waste must we clean up before we are sickened enough to demand effective changes in our government?
Are we ready for a peaceful political "evolution" to safeguard our personal and economic freedoms in this country and to avoid committing war crimes against others?
